Popcaster delivers accurate data at local area geographies across the State to 2051 that helps plan infrastructure and services or drive business expansion. Popcaster forecasts extend to 2051 and are modelled based on known and likely future residential development with an overarching “tops-down” constraint in the medium to longer term. The tops-down figures are based on the most recent National and State data from the ABS and regularly updated as new information becomes available. The forecasts also utilise a regional based approach to breakdown forecasts from state level to regions of Metropolitan Melbourne and Regional Victoria.
Popcaster forecasts are modelled based on known and likely future residential development with an overarching “tops-down” constraint to give the localised assumptions a reality check.
The bottoms-up approach uses a combination of detailed land assumptions, with demographic typologies, so that local area assumptions are based on more reliable trends. In total, Popcaster is available for more than 15,800 areas across Victoria with most areas being between 200 and 1,000 households. Each of these areas map into a region which constrains the population change from the bottoms up model.
Forecasts are available by single year from 2021 to 2051 or customised time periods to meet your needs. Data is available for age and sex, as well as households by type. See detailed geography and age example below.
